The Nature Conservancy has joined the World Union for Nature and adopted the definition for ecotourism. Ecotourism is responsible to protect, is able to enjoy and to appreciate nature and any other cultural element- in the past or present-which promotes its conservation. Produces a low impact on the environment and also promotes the active socioeconomic participation of the local population”. Furthermore, ecotourism is characterized for the visitor’s behavior which it is conscientious and it has a low impact on the environment. The tourist is sensitive, appreciates and respects the local cultures and the biological diversity of the environment. Also, it helps to support the local effort of conservation that will benefit and educate the local communities and the traveler. Ecotourism Lago Colbun is committed to pursue these efforts and seeks to create significant opportunities for the conservation of the environment. The local community does not have many options to generate income and promote this vision to the tourist.
